The good life is one in which what someone does and feels leads to and is constitutive of their fulfillment, also called happiness. Such happiness is neither primarily an experience; nor is it found as a consequence of following moral laws. Instead, happiness is fundamentally an activity: it is the state of the person who is living without hindrance the life that becomes a human being. The good life is the primary source of happiness. Presentation: Value Education: An Overview of Educational Initiatives taken in India

Abstract

The most effective strategy for building societal harmony and cohesion is education. India's national goals include internalizing secularism, supporting democracy, ensuring equality, pursuing national unity, revitalizing fraternity, and delivering social justice and liberty. The educational system must consider human needs, viewpoints, and desires. It must raise awareness of and respect for human rights and human values. The essential obligations outlined in Article 51(A) of the Constitution must be internalized by every child. The 42nd Amendment incorporated compassion, scientific temper, humanism, abjuring violence, and other fundamental duties into the Indian Constitution, including India's unity and integrity, harmony, spirit of common brotherhood, preservation of our composite culture's rich cultural heritage, compassion, scientific temper, humanism, and abjuring violence. These also highlight the need to improve and develop. In this paper an attempt is made to overview the educational initiatives taken for propagation of value education in Indian educational curriculum.

Key-words: Value Education, Indian Education Policies, Constitutional Values, Indian Culture.

Aristotle on Happiness and the Good Life

Abstract
Aristotle was the last, and the most influential of the Greek philosophers. Aristotle studied philosophy as well as different branches of natural sciences. In fact, he had a keen interest in the world of experience and is the founder of at least two sciences: (1) Logic and (2) Biology. Aristotle’s system of philosophy falls into the fivefold division of Logic, metaphysics, physics, ethics and aesthetics. Aristotle talks about the ultimate good being eudaimonia  – a good life, a flourishing life, a fulfilled and worthwhile life. Reflecting on ideals and connecting them to reality is only the first step in the search for the good life. A For Aristotle the final end of human life is to flourish, to live well, to have a good life. All acts should aim at this end. According to Aristotle, the good life consists in the possession, over the course of a lifetime, of all those things that are really good for us.  Aristotle’s purpose in the Nicomachean Ethics is not just to explain the philosophy of the excellence for human beings but also to demonstrate specifically how human beings can lead lives of excellence as activity in accordance with practical and theoretical reason. The objective of this paper is to study the concept of happiness and the good life according to Aristotle.

(Ethical Leadership in India: Present Scenario and Future)

TEACHING AIDS AND MODES IN ACADEMIC PHILOSOPHY

TEACHING AIDS AND MODES IN ACADEMIC PHILOSOPHY
Dr. Desh Raj Sirswal
Abstract
Philosophy is the study of the most general and fundamental problems of human life. The main areas of study in philosophy includes metaphysics, epistemology, logic, ethics and aesthetics etc. there are other several branches of philosophy which characterize different branches of knowledge. Philosophy being a very abstract branch of study, has not much scope of using equipment on a large scale to supplement the normal lecture schedules. However, in some papers/areas there are comparatively better scope to make the lectures more concrete and interesting through proper use of various teaching aids and modes. We include logic, philosophy of science, applied philosophy, applied ethics, social and political philosophy, philosophy of mind, philosophy of cognitive science and history of philosophy etc., we can use various modern aids. In this article my attempt is to draw out an outlines of aids and modes for effective philosophy teaching.
